The Pinehurst Hat is a richly textured unisex hat. The pattern includes instructions to make a beanie (the green hat) or a winter stocking hat (the gold hat) in worsted weight yarn and a winter stocking hat (the rose hat) in bulky weight yarn.
The Beanie: This hat has a unique crown which can only be created using the Flexee Loom Links Skinny loom. My special double decreasing crown technique is most suited to an intermediate loom knitter. This design makes a really cute "+" on the top of the hat and the crown doesn't "swirl" like so many decreasing crown designs do. The green hat is an example of this style.
The Winter Stocking Hat: The pattern also includes instructions to create a stocking hat-type winter hat from this same gorgeous pattern. This alternate bind off is easier than the double decreasing crown technique and would be more suited to a confident novice loom knitter. The gold and rose hats are examples of this style.
The Pinehurst uses approximately 190 yards of a [4] medium weight yarn. Perfection by Kraemer Yarns, 30% Merino wool/70% acrylic, in the Alligator colorway was used in the beanie sample. Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn, 100% acrylic, in the Mustard colorway was used in the worsted weight winter hat sample. And approximately 110 yards of Lion Brand’s Hue + Me chunky [5] wool blend yarn in the Love Song colorway was used in the bulky weight winter hat sample.
Because of the short row construction of the beanie, the pattern is suitable for an intermediate loom knitter.
The pattern is ready for download now as a PDF file.
