The Magic Square Hot Pad is a staple of the crochet pattern world, but I had never found a loom knit pattern to replicate this double-thick hot pad. After studying these crochet patterns to understand the construction of the Magic Square Hot Pad, I created a version for loom knitters.
This Magic Square Hot Pad pattern includes the original version using worsted weight yarn, a bulky yarn version, my striped Christmas version, and an Old Glory version.

The original and the striped Christmas versions are knit on any 3/8" gauge loom set up for 92 pegs in the round, and use approximately 110 yards of worsted weight cotton yarn. The bulky yarn version is knit on any 3/4" gauge loom, set up for 40 pegs in the round and uses approximately 55 yards of a bulky weight cotton yarn (or 110 yards of a worsted weight cotton yarn if holding 2 strands as one). The Old Glory version is knit on any 3/8" gauge loom set up for 68 pegs in the round.

This pattern is suitable for an intermediate loom knitter.

I've crocheted hot pot holders but have never loom knit one! Dayna creates some great patterns so I'm excited to try this one out!

I haven’t made the item yet but Dayna’s patterns are always detailed and easy to read.
