While trying to use up odds and ends of a yarn stash, I created a fun cinch sack backpack that is 13” w x 16” h.

This pattern is easy enough for a beginner. You only need to know how to do an e-wrap cast on, an e-wrap stitch, and a purl stitch. This cinch sack is loomed on the Knifty Knitter long blue loom (62 pegs).

The sample bag in the pictures was knitted using leftover Department 71 Tassels yarn in Heirloom color (from www.Herrschners.com) for the multi-colored body and Caron Simply Soft in Dark Country Blue for the solid top. The i-cord straps were made of scrap white yarn for which I didn’t have a label.

This bag would be fun to make with 100% cotton in your school or favorite team colors. The pattern also includes some alternative ideas to change it up a bit.

The pattern is available to download now as a PDF file.
